We had a great week and were very productive. Among our goals was to film a series of “12 Dinners Kids Can Cook”, with each child showing how to make 2 dinners on their dinner night. Here’s a day-by-day summary of our week.
Sunday
After church we hung out outside, dancing on the grass, writing in journals, playing with the animals, and talking.
Monday
It was a beautiful day and I spent it working on my chromebook outside, working on my blog and answering blog emails. Makenna kept me company by reading on the porch swing. The other kids went to a camp or volunteered to help with a 3 hour camp. Makenna and I enjoyed watching the chicks peck around with Sunny, a duck eat a whole frog, and the little ducklings pile in a heap for naptime. Then Makenna modeled popsicles for the posicle post and enjoyed a few. 🙂
When the kids got home Kaitlyn made 2 dinners for our 12 Dinners Kids Can Cook YT video series.
Tuesday
When we moved here a dear friend gave us a gift card to eat at a restaurant the day we moved in. This week Andy asked if we could go back to that restaurant to celebrate our 3 year anniversary. I remembered we didn’t use all of the gift card so I had Thomas stop and get 3 brownie sundaes for us to share with the rest of the money. A fun way to celebrate the feat we pulled off moving across the country and buying our new house. We are so happy here and I’m grateful every day to live here.
After eating them (left), Tilly made us cobb salad for dinner (right) and did a video about it and another meal she’s good at.
Wednesday
Wednesday was Makenna’s turn to whip up the family a marvelous meal. She made us potato soup and crock pot cranberry oatmeal.
Thursday
Samuel is our chef on Thursdays. Usually we work together to come up with a scrumptious supper, but tonight he shows us two of his favorites: grilled cheese and sloppy joes.
Friday
The little boys have enjoyed making school lunch trays for breakfast and lunch and then putting their food in them and eating outside. Meanwhile the girls spent the day reading their books on the porch swing.
Anderson is a fantastic chef and on his night he shows us how he juggles the making of English muffin pizzas. Then he shows us how to make a one pot chicken & quinoa dish.
Saturday
We worked a lot in our garden, did our housework, and washed our car. Then we got to hear Jennifer Pharr Davis speak and her talented husband play his guitar and sing. Jennifer was a phenomenal speaker! So cute, delightful, and funny. She hiked the A.T. three times and I’ve read her books so it was a treat to meet her in real life.
Thomas is the last in this series of “12 Dinners Kids Can Cook” as he shows us how to make fajitas and crock pot macaroni and cheese.
Have a great week!
