The Farmhouse

1930's white farmhouse with red shutters in the Blue Ridge Mountains

Our farmhouse was built in 1936 by a sweet family who eventually had 11 children. They lived here until 1981 and then another family bought it, raised 6 children here and lived here for 40 years until I bought it in 2021 with 10 children. I’m thrilled it only had 2 owners. That means it was well loved and cared for with special large family memories. And we aim to make many more!

Most of the house hadn’t been updated since the 70’s–lots of wood paneling, orange-ish countertops, dark curtains–so I wasn’t excited to move into the house. But it did have 5 small bedrooms, 1 bathroom, a sunroom, and a reading spot upstairs. It was better than 1 room hunting cabins I also looked into buying. This was definitely move-in ready, had enough bedrooms, and we could take our time updating when we figured out what we wanted. The first year we did at least one big project a month and got it to where it’s pretty decent. Check out the different renovations! I also have a tour on youtube:
