This was a great week! We ordered school books for the first time in a few years. When they came the kids were ecstatic. We are off to a great school year with a break coming up very soon when the college kids come home. 🙂
It’s sad to only have 5 kids in my homeschool and sad to still not have much money for books or school supplies (The only subject I bought was language arts) or field trips. And not a lot of time to teach the kids each day, but I still plan to have a great year. They are in fun grades to teach. This year they are all odd years: 3rd, 5th, 7th, 9th and 11th.
Thursday we went on our first international flight. 🙂 Talea made everyone passports and tickets and then set up the living room like an airport with different flights. She had signs for various destinations: the Netherlands, England, Denmark, and Canada. The Netherlands was the most popular choice. I went to Denmark and had an excellent meal and flight. 🙂
Saturday we had a fun field trip day. It was our last free Saturday before Madalyn went back to college and Thomas left for his mission so we went ziplining and to a baseball game. When Maddie came home in June I asked what one paying thing she wanted to do this summer and she said ziplining. We were excited to take her and had a great time. Afterwards we went to a baseball game in Winston-Salem. The company Thomas works at had their company night so we got free tickets and food, which was really fun. I haven’t taken these kids to a game in 7 years so they hardly remember it. It was a great family day!
