This week had pretty much the same schedule all week. Picking blueberries and garden produce every day!!

Every morning Thomas left for work at 7am. After getting him off I let the chickens out and took my picnic basket with empty containers up the steep hill to Blueberry Hill. I listened to 3 podcasts while picking for 2 hours. Then headed home.

We worked and played the rest of the day. It rained every afternoon. After dinner I’d pick blueberries near the house, pick from the garden, get squash bugs, get Japanese beetles and feed them to the chicks, weed the garden, etc. Then tuck the chickens and chicks in at 8:30. Thomas came home from rehearsal at 9:30 ready for a snack and to tell me about his day.

The chicks followed me around waiting to snatch the blueberries I dropped. These are the bushes by the house.

In the garden I found two pumpkins eaten by deer. Sad because Tilly and Samuel had their names written on them. I broke this one in half and gave it to the chicks who devoured it up. The other one I gave to the big chickens.

Thomas got soaked just running from the car to the house late one night. We got a lot of great downpours this week! His shirt would have been wet if he hadn’t covered himself with his backpack.

Picking produce from our fantastic garden. So grateful for all the seeds we were given this year and good weather to help it do well. Plus all the kids for putting in 1-3 hours a day working in it. So many squash bugs and weeds, but we were mostly successful.

While editing a video I would wash all the blueberries and put them in gallon bags weighing 3-4 lbs. Then chop up the cucumbers, tomatoes, figs, squash and peppers for the freezer.

Here’s what we picked on Friday. Everyone helped pick and Makenna arranged it for a colorful photo. There is cucumbers, blueberries, a big pumpkin as well as small pumpkins and gourds, radishes, beets, beans, different colored bell peppers, purple lettuce, corn on the cob, and tomatoes. Hooray for a bountiful garden!

And is so proud of the corn he grew! He cooked about 12 pieces and we all got one for lunch. It was delicious!

While slicing cucumbers with a mandolin I sliced off a tiny chunk of my pinky finger. Ouch!

Kait, Kenna and Sam having a blueberry eating contest. They’re seeing how many they can fit in their mouths at the same time. All while it’s raining. Fun Saturday afternoon on the farm!

One morning I saw Tilly reading her new scriptures on her mattress on the floor in the reading spot (where it’s cool) and took her picture. Another afternoon I came up to the reading spot where Maddie’s bed is and saw her working in her journal. Both are such beautiful girls!
