We had a rainy week so we stayed inside and cleaned our house while Thomas recuperated from wisdom teeth surgery. Then at the end of the week we got to take a fun trip!

Monday-Thursday: Rainy Day Clean Out

Everyone cleaned out their closets and I cleaned out my nightstand drawer where I tend to collect sweet notes, drawings and momentos from the children. One big momento is over 100 little pieces of paper from Alexis who left them for me when she went to college. She made enough for me to look at one every day from the end of July until Thanksgiving. They had little poems to read, tasks to do like chop down a tree or take a hike or hug someone, things she liked about me, songs to listen to, and other sweet tidbits. I’ve hung on to them for 3 years and now deciding to put my favorite ones in a scrapbook.

These are not blog worthy photos, but quick snapshots to show my sister, Lori, we’re eating healthy: Our purple lettuce that I love and turmeric chicken and wild rice. It was very orange! But delicious. Lori told me turmeric is the #2 cancer fighting food so I’ve been adding it to lots of dishes. This one doesn’t look that good (and I didn’t do a good job taking the picture), but we all loved it.

When we had a break in the rain Tilly and I planted a Chinese Fringe flower. The one we planted last year died, so I hope this year’s does better. I’d love more purple in our very green yard.

Friday: Trip to Raleigh

Friday we drove to Raleigh for a 2 day organ workshop. First we stopped at the temple. Wish I had thought to snap a picture of us there. We haven’t been since January and we always feel so good going to the temple together. So peaceful and serene. Then we went to a fun park for lunch. Then to the hotel to swim and eat dinner. Next we went to the organ workshop which was a concert and music night. Very educational! Then back to the hotel for popcorn and chocolate and go to bed!

I sent this to the 5 older kids inviting them to join us for popcorn and chocolate!

Saturday: Organ Workshop

I dropped 4 kids off at the organ workshop and we ran into a very good friend from when we lived in Greenville, NC. She, like Kailtyn, plays the organ for her congregation at church. Then Tilly and I had a wonderful day together. We worked out and read in the fitness center. Then went pedal boarding and kayaking together before picking the kids back up at 2. Then we rushed west as Thomas rushed east to meet us. We switched cars and he drove the kids down to Florida to visit grandparents and relatives. I drove home to put the chickens in bed and have a week to work hard on my business.

We had the best time together!! I wanted to savor every moment and make it last forever. It’s so relaxing out there on the lake with no yard work, chickens, bills, meals, laundry, etc. And Tilly is a little sweetheart.

Watch the vlog to see the action this week!
