This was a laid-back week. Three of the 4 older kids left (Maddie is staying till New Year’s!) so it was back to normal life for us.
We did personal subjects in the morning (math, spelling, piano, DuoLingo, etc) then some play time after lunch. The 5 little kids enjoyed playing school as they did their school at little makeshift desks. During playtime Madalyn, Kaitlyn, and Makenna read on the trampoline together. The 3 boys did a workout which included running laps on our 1/4 mile trail, doing pullups on the pull-up bar Thomas made, and several other things. Then doing a cold plunge in the bathtub.
I worked for a few hours during playtime (or tried to–usually Tilly wanted me to play with her.) At 3 I would pick a snack (literally) of figs, grapes, blueberries, and cherry tomatoes. I’d bring it to the picnic table with some almonds and we did the group subjects. We did geography, music, art, and read aloud. Then we made our geography dinner and ate it. After dinner we played outside, picked from our garden, and did some chores. A pretty good routine. Perfect weather every day. September is a beautiful month with deep blue skies, highs in the 70’s and lows in the 50’s every single day.
Love the huge Scuppernong grapes! We had our best year ever for them.
Horiatiki and Spanakopita–Greek foods. We also sang at the nursing home for our one outing this week.
I took Thomas on a mommy date to donate blood. Good times. 🙂 Madalyn is so good to play Legos with Tilly. She’s been a huge help this week playing with Tilly so I can work.
