One Sunday I was chatting with Tilly asking her about her friends, goals, things I could do better as a mom, what makes her happy, etc. In this little interview she told me she’d like to get her ears pierced some day. So we put an ear piercing kit on our wishlist and 2 days later her ears were pierced! We did it on the front porch because it was lighter and better for pictures and a video. And everything is always more fun done outside. 🙂 She loves them! When people asked where she got her ears pierced at she said, “The front porch.”
Then when Maddie and Lexi flew in, Makenna pierced her ears on the roof of an outbuilding. Now when people ask her where she pierced her ears she says, ‘On the roof.” 🙂
Five Years!!
This month we celebrated our 5 year anniversary of buying this beautiful property and moving here. The day we moved in in 2022 we went out to eat at a restaurant we were given a gift card to by a dear friend. So this year we decided to go back to celebrate. I’m so glad we did! We rarely eat out, not even once a year, so it was really fun and special, especially because Madalyn and Alexis were here to celebrate with us.
We also did a few other things to commemorate our move here. We attended the jam session like we did the first summer we moved here before we got involved with plays. One Sunday we watched a lot of home movies and saw the pictures from the day I saw the house on the internet through packing the Uhaul, through moving here, through the first summer of getting settled in. What memories! What an adventure! Sometimes I still can’t believe I sold a lot of our stuff including a bed I loved, bought a house site unseen, and moved my family of 10 children 2000 miles across the country all by myself.
Of course I had heavenly help and the miracles I saw with it all kept me going even though I was still very nervous. Here’s the video depicting those miracles!
Getting Ready For the Reunion
Madalyn and Alexis were here for a week before we all took off for Georgia for the Holladay family reunion. The girls were so helpful in helping us get done everything we needed to. We pulled up pounds of garlic and Alexis spent hours chopping it up so I could dehydrate it and make dried minced garlic and garlic salt. Maddie cut the boys’ hair. They all practiced a skit Thomas wrote for all 11 kids to do at the reunion talent show. It was so fun watching them rehearse! I love how they work together.
I love having 8 kids around the dining table! The night before we left Anderson got stung by a bee and the next morning he woke up with a very swollen face. Poor kid! But he never complained and said it didn’t hurt or bother him at all.
