Sunday: Wildflower Garden Walk

I love going for walks on our property with Talea on Sundays. We often walk in the woods, through the garden, or in the wildflower garden. This day we walked through the wildflowers and enjoyed picking them. Tilly was so cute and sweet, chatting away and asking if I liked the flowers she pointed at. Tuesday Kaitlyn walked through the wildflowers in the pastures and picked a beautiful bouquet for our table.

Monday: Cleaning Out Garden Beds

We heard it was going to rain the rest of the week so we pulled weeds in the garden, pulled out dead plants, and mowed over the pumpkin patch that had died. We’ve neglected our garden the past month with company, school, and work. So that’s sad. Too many squash bugs we couldn’t keep up with. But we got a lot of garden produce before now and every year is better than the previous one, so at least we’re doing better.

Fall That’s All Party

After cleaning up the garden and pumpkin patch and then putting away hammocks and swings, we had a “Fall That’s All” Party. This is where we put on Autumnsongs by John McCutcheon and put up our fall decorations while singing and dancing to the music. We pick a cool feeling day around the first week of fall, make good food, and have our fall party! Check it out in the Vlog video below! We’ve had this tradition for 20+ years.

Other Days

The rest of the week we got a lot of rain and focused on school, housework, and my work. The kids were good to play “baby doll primary program” where their dolls sing songs and do a program for their church congregation. They want to perform it for real church friends some time and I’ll include it next week’s vlog. It’s really cute! And it kept them busy a couple hours a few days this week so I could get work done.
