Four Ducklings Die

Bad duckling news. Already 4 have died. Three were killed by a snake on Tuesday and one stopped eating and died on Thursday in Kait’s cuddling arms. So sad. The kids had a funeral for them on the hill where they’ve buried other chickens who have died. Thursday Thomas took the kids to Tractor Supply to buy 4 to replace ours and the ducks have taken them in. They don’t seem to be the best mothers, but I guess we’re trying again.

Singing at the Nursing Home

Every first Wednesday of the month we sing at a care facility. Kaitlyn puts the program together and the kids do a great job. This time Tilly was in every number but 1 and sang so loud and clear. She loves to sing and perform.

A Wonderful Saturday

We had a wonderful Saturday evening. There were kids mowing, kids watering the garden, Thomas cooking us a fajita dinner. The little boys made a bonfire of old wood we found cleaning out the barn and got it all burned up. Then we all joined them to eat dinner around the fire and have s’mores. There are always kids playing with chickens and jumping on the tramp. The weather was beautiful and everyone was relaxed and happy. I love these kinds of moments on the farm.

Besides this, it was a low-key week. We weeded the pumpkin patch and garden, mowed and trimmed the yard, always working on something outside. The kids played great this week, playing a lot of cars and building houses out of cardboard.
