This week Thomas and Tilly come back! Well, basically just Tilly. We picked them both up at the airport in Roanoke, but then took Thomas to college so we only brought Tilly back home with us. They were supposed to land at midnight on Wednesday but their flight landed late and they missed their connection. The next flight I could get them was almost 24 hours later. So Sam and Andy and I got a hotel by the airport to spend the night. Then we had all day Thursday to hang out in Roanoke so we decided to go hiking. Always a great choice! I never have enough time to hike so I was thrilled.

Because the plane had to go around a huge storm, it landed in CLT late and the T’s missed their connection to Roanoke.
Hiking McAffee Knob
Thomas and Tilly’s flight would land at 6pm so we had all day to hike. We chose to hike McAffee Knob, the most photographed spot on the Appalachain Trail. I had always heard about it but didn’t know it was so close to Roanoke. We had a great time! It was a bit humid and buggy, but other than that, perfect!
