Kaitlyn gets her permit!!

Kaitlyn has been anxious to drive for 2 years. So she got her permit the earliest possible day the state allows her to. She’s so excited to finally have it. Kaitlyn is a great driver. She’s a natural and loves it. Besides, with all the mowing and go cart driving she’s done the past 4 years, she has a lot of practice. She’s very confident and conscientious. I can’t wait until she gets her license as that will be the biggest help for me to earn money–to not have to spend so much time driving the kids around, but will have more time to work. And she’ll be able to earn more money too, driving herself to jobs.

Some like it hot

We’ve been getting a lot of peppers lately and have fun trying them. We have some bell peppers, California, poblano, jalapeno, serrano, and habanero. Fun to see who is in the mood to eat which ones.

Doll picnic

Talea was so cute taking her dolls on a stroll and then picnic. It’s sad that my girls are growing up and don’t do this a lot anymore. There’s something so relaxing and calming about having a picnic in the shade with sisters and dolls.

Food that looks like the body part it supports (Doctrine of Signatures)

One day we did this cool activity for anatomy and nutrition. I set up a table outside with plates of food that looks like the body part it supports. For example, a sliced mushroom looks like an ear and it protects against hearing loss in old age. An avocado looks like a uterus and it supports healthy uterine lining, ensuring implantation. Check out the blog post and video I did about it!

Mommy date hike with Samuel

While the kids were in one of their performances Samuel and I went on a mommy date hike. October is the perfect month for hiking and we had a wonderful time. Every year I try to do as many hikes as we can fit in and enjoy the gorgeous weather and stunning fall foliage. And of course enjoy time with whatever child I’m hiking with. Go take a hike!! You’ll be glad you did.

Junie B. Jones

Four kids were in the play “Junie B. Jones” and had 5 performances this week. As always, they loved it and did great. Talea was a cheerleader, Anderson and Makenna were kids on the bus and in the classroom, and Kaitlyn was the lunch lady (“Gladys Gutzman”) with a song about her. She loved her character and all the kids loved her because in the play she brings cookies to the classroom and several times she brought cookies to the play. She had a lot of lines and did great!
