Hello! Here’s a post about my Rose garden progress, trip to Duke Gardens on May Day, and Mother’s Day photos.
Rose Garden
All of April I was working on fixing up an area of the wildflower garden that was mostly weeds with a huge brick pile hidden in the weeds. We moved all the bricks, rototilled, added better soil, and planted roses and hydrangeas. Then made mulch with the wood chipper and poured it around the plants along with making a wood and rock border. For now I’ve decided to call it my rose garden because it’s easy to say. I’m really happy with how it turned out. I hope the roses and hydrangeas grow really big to fill the area.
Duke Gardens!
We celebrated May Day by going to Duke Gardens in Durham, NC. I love going to Duke Gardens! It’s so beautiful and peaceful. We usually only have an hour or two to spend there but I’d love to sometime go and spend the day learning about new plants as well as just sit in the shade and read. Such a relaxing place!
One of the kids’s favorite things to do at Duke Gardens is to go around recreating pictures.
Here are some recreated photos from 2015, 2022, and 2026 when I had 8 kids, then 10, and now only 6 at home.
Japanese Bridge
Fish Pond
These pictures are so precious. Every time we go the girls want to recreate the original picture from 2015. How is time flying so fast? I wish they could be toddlers and preschoolers again for just one day.
Other Duke Pictures From This Visit
We had a fun stroll around the gardens. Check out the vlog with fantastic video! On the way home we stopped at a Big Red Bus so that Kaitlyn could donate blood for the first time. Thomas did too but my pulse was too high.
