The girls wore red to church and Kaitlyn braided hearts in Makenna’s and Tilly’s hair.
Secret in the Woods
Every afternoon that Thomas was home he went in the woods with Samuel and Anderson and worked on a secret project. They were stripping bark off logs and hauling them to a clearing where they’re going to build something. One day I got to watch them for an hour and really enjoyed it. I love seeing them work together on their own project (not something I’m telling them to do like fix a bike) and figure out how to solve problems them come across.
They devised this cool stick that they tied to the log. Then they could stick in the ground vertically and yank back and the log would move. They did this when only one boy was moving a log and the others were working on something else. When they were all 3 were available to move the log they yoked themselves with the stick and pulled together. Watch the video to see them go!
Meanwhile, the girls were practicing the lines and songs for Descendants, the play they’re in. They used dolls to practice and included Tilly, who isn’t in the play and loves to play with dolls. When the little boys came in or on the days Thomas wasn’t home, they joined the girls in rehearsing.
One day after rehearsing, and while the boys were still in the woods, the girls had a picnic with their dolls. It was a great week with lots of sibling bonding, good weather, and some Olympic watching too!
