June 2026: Only 4 Kids, Garden, and Bath Update

June was really busy even though we weren’t in school. You’d think I’d have time to keep up with Holladay Happenins on my blog. Somehow I’ve gotten really behind though, even after years of never missing a week posting. Madalyn is here helping me with my work so I’m attempting to catch up today.

Girls Go To Mama’s

At the end of May Kaitlyn and Makenna flew to Mama’s house in Northern California to help her after a major surgery.

The 4 kids at home played in hammocks in the woods, did some woodcarving, and ate a lot of meals outside. We had a lot of fun together.

The Girls Are Home!

We always miss Kaitlyn and Makenna so much when they’re gone. They are always smiling and serving others. They make our home a bright and happy place. So we were thrilled when they returned from Mama’s house. One day the kids played on the slip n slide (see it in the vlog!) and then dried off on cushions they dragged out to the trampoline.

Another day Tilly and I went on a gorgeous drive up a gap in the mountain and then went on a bike ride together. It was so much fun! I would do it every day if I could. It was beautiful! See it in the vlog here.

Gardening

Our garden grew by leaps and bounds in June. We started harvesting peas, spinach, lettuce, tomatoes and zucchini, with blackberries, pumpkins, blueberries and more coming in July. We also beat and froze a lot of eggs to use in the fall when our hens lay less.

Small Bathroom Update

Madalyn and Alexis were coming home soon as well as Nathan’s brother and family so we decided to do a small bathroom update. I was given this mirror and light fixture 2 years ago but never put it up because I was waiting for a large update. But we decided to go ahead and do a small one real quick before they came. We sanded the ceiling, painted, ripped out the old mirror cabinet and light fixture and replaced them. We also replaced the shower curtain. There is still more to do someday and of course I want to add another whole bathroom, but we’re happy with it for now. See the update and getting ready for the girls here!
