The 4 big kids home right now wanted to have bonding time together and watch Lord of the Rings and just hang out, so I took the 3 little kids camping. We had so much fun! Camping is so easy with only 3.
Grayson Highlands
Our first stop was Grayson Highlands State Park. It’s cooler up there than our house so with such a hot July, it was a welcome break from the heat. We went on several different hikes, did some rock climbing, oohed and aahed over the views, and got to see the wild ponies the park is famous for.

Tilly was especially excited to see the wild ponies. She loves horses.
After hiking to see the ponies and climbing rocks, we hiked to the top of Little Pinnacle and Big Pinnacle. Very easy hikes, but a lot of fun. Beautiful trail and we were the only ones on it.
Hurricane Campground
After hiking all day we went to our campground. It is appropriately named Hurricane Campground and it sure was hit by a hurricane! Helene did significant damage to it. Many campsites are still closed along with the hiking trail that has trees down all over it. But we found an open campsite and had a great time! Very private, serene, quiet, and beautiful.
We had the last campsite where the cul-de-sac loop is so we rode bikes and scooters around it all day. We also played games and hung out at the creek, skipping rocks.

Eating delicious hamburgers and hot dogs–can’t go camping without them! Topped with Tilly’s home grown tomatoes and our blueberries.
Saturday
When we got home Tilly took a shower and spent the afternoon playing the ukulele and taught herself a few new songs. Makenna is the first to pick her big pumpkin she grew.
