Monday: Working Hard!

Lori came up for the weekend and she is a hard worker! I didn’t get pictures or much video footage of her, but she encourages us to work hard and long. After schooling in the morning we worked on Blueberry Hill for a couple of hours in the afternoon. Then stained the mud kitchen and fixed a section that had broken in the last wind storm. Then we went in for Kaitlyn’s French Dip sandwiches.

Anderson and Samuel chop down wild blackberry brambles in the pasture with their hatchets. Anderson and Talea stain part of the mud kitchen.

Tuesday: Bikes and Books

Makenna riding the e-bike and the chickens trying to hitch a ride too! Several jump on any time she stops. 🙂 Click here to order your own super cool folding e-bike!! Enter code “FARM100” to get $100 off!! We love this e-bike. It’s a beautiful color and we’ve had zero problems with it in the 6 months we’ve had it. Highly recommend!

At night I love to read the Moffat series to Talea. This week we finished, “The Moffat Museum.” The Moffats are my favorite books. So cute, sweet, and innocent. The books are set in West Haven, CT in 1918 and make a great read aloud to children ages 5-15. I also have study guides that have lots of fun activities to do with your children when you read the books. Check them out! Then grab the books at your library, download the study guides, and make incredible memories!!

Wednesday: Makenna’s Birthday Surprise!

During the winter Olympics I saw a commercial for The Sound of Music Broadway touring group. I knew I had to take the kids. You can only get 4 tickets so then I decided I’d just take the 3 younger girls. It could be a combined present for all 3 of their birthdays. Then for some reason I felt like it should be Makenna’s belated birthday present so I wrote poems for her and left them on her bed a few times a week for the 3 weeks leading up to the surprise. (If you want to hear them, I read them on my miracles of the week video.) It was so fun! It made anticipating the surprise so much fun. I couldn’t wait for the day to come and it finally did!

We made ricotta cheese calzones and ate them on the grass by where we parked. It was in the 80’s and a perfect picnic evening. Then we walked to the performing arts center and enjoyed walking around before taking our seats way up high in the balcony. The first half of the show I was disappointed I hadn’t bought better seats because I couldn’t see the adorable performers. During intermission I asked if we could get better seats and the usher gave us some box seats! It was such a blessing. The girls were all grins the entire night. I was so grateful God gave me the opportunity to have this special mommy date with 3 of my sweet girls.

Our seats on the second to last row in the balcony. Then we got to move up to some box seats for the second half and loved it!

Misc. Pictures

Someone gave Talea the cute green dress she’s wearing and then she also got some pajamas in the mail from a viewer of our YouTube channel. They are so generous!! And Talea was all smiles. She loves getting new clothes.

The other picture is the 5 youngest children after church. Everyone but Kaitlyn wore green for St. Patrick’s Day coming up.

Watch the video of our mommy-daughter date and also a dramatic 50 degree cold front that came through the next day!

Have a great week!
