Cherry Picking

Yay! Our cherries are ripe! And we’re able to pick and eat them. The first year a late frost had killed them. The second year ants ate them all before they were ripe. Last year Japanese beetles ate them. I was beginning to give up we’d ever get more than one or two. This year we got a whole bucketful! The only downside is that they are very small.

My Birthday

Thursday was my birthday. The weather was beautiful and we almost went to a state park, but I was on a roll with things I was working on and didn’t want to take the day off. Besides, it had rained for 2 days straight and it would be muddy. So instead, after lunch we did art outside then read and relaxed outside while I worked on a book study sitting in a hammock swing. I enjoyed the beautiful day, hearing the kids run around playing and goofing off, and smelling the sweet smells of late spring.

We had green chile enchiladas for dinner and my favorite brownies and ice cream for dessert. For presents Tilly made me a cute little book about me and her. Andy made me a cardboard bear. He also gave me a beer with a birthday message in it. He’d found it in the woods with some cardboard in it and thought it was a cool message in a bottle. So he wrote on the cardboard and wrapped it up for me. So cute! Kaitlyn crocheted me an adorable deer. The 4 college kids gave me a Lowes gift card and my mom did too. We could really use some clippers and a gutter on the front of our house so the gift card is perfect! I have the best kids and loved spending the day with them.
