Thomas hops in the car to drive to rehearsal and finds out the little boys have been undoubtedly playing in the van. How can he tell? The seat is raised way high and way close to the steering wheel. When we questioned the little boys they said, “We weren’t playing in the van, we went camping.”

Doll’s Birthday Party

My girls go all out for their dolls’ birthday parties. It’s funny because we don’t do a lot for our own birthdays and they rarely go to birthday parties. This week was Makenna’s doll, Lizzie-Belle’s birthday. Kaitlyn made a lot of party prizes and games and favors and spread them on the couches and counters. Then the 5 little kids went around “buying” them with cardboard money. Then they sat outside and played the cardboard pinball, looked in the periscope and kaleidoscope Kait made and played with the owl stuffed animals she made each child.

Getting School Done By Lunch

With the sun coming up earlier the kids have been getting up earlier, getting dressed, eating breakfast and getting right to work. One day I heard them getting breakfast as usual while I was on my exercise bike. Then it went eerily quiet. I went downstairs at 7:45am to check on them and all 5 little kids were already busy doing their work. Not sure what happened to Andy’s picture, but he was writing a book. Tilly was doing a workbook, Makenna was doing spelling, Kaitlyn doing L.A., and Samuel was reading a 75 page story Kaitlyn wrote and is still writing. We’ve been able to finish school by lunch at 11 and then have the afternoon free to work and play outside.

Children’s Museum and Battle Reenactment

Saturday we went to the children’s museum and a battle reenactment. I’ve heard of this reenactment since 2007 and have always wanted to go but never made it a priority since we love staying home. This year we decided to go and really enjoyed it. It’s a Revolutionary War battle and it made me so grateful for our freedom.

First Snow!

We’ve been waiting all winter for some snow. We had 5 Sundays where it rained at 34-37 degrees but never snowed. Finally this Sunday it snowed! We just got a dusting but at least church was canceled and we finally got to see snow. We hung out together writing in our journals, playing games, reading motivational stories, and playing the piano. Lori was here so that was extra fun.
