Last Sunday: The little boys made missionary name tags and went and showed the sister missionaries. The sisters sent me their cute selfie. After church Samuel took pictures of me and the 3 little girls wearing blue. Monday as we were getting lunch we get a knock on our door. It’s the missionaries! Sam and Andy threw on their suit coats and ties over their normal clothes and pretended to be missionaries wanting to come in and teach us. They did a really good job!

Mommy date with the little boys

Tuesday I took the little boys on a bike ride on the greenway. It was a perfect early spring day, not crowded at all. Bike rides and hikes are my favorite mommy dates so I had a great time. We ate lunch by the river and had some time to chat and just hang out. Mommy dates are moments I will always treasure.

Spring weather

We had some warm spring weather this week so we made the most of it. Wednesday we went to the bookmobile and park where we rode bikes, scooters and the hoverboard. It’s a small park in our small town and we’re always the only ones there. We brought a lunch and plenty to do and hung out for several hours. Kait and Kenna wrote stories and made maps and played with dolls. I scootered, read our read aloud book to the girls (Betsy and Tacy Go Downtown), and worked on school stuff I could sell. It was so relaxing and nobody wanted to go home. Thursday was 78 degrees so the 3 little kids brought out their swimsuits and went swimming on the trampoline complete with goggles. My brother in Wyoming had -23 so it was almost a 100 degree difference from my house to his on the same day! Friday it was a bit cooler but the 3 little kids still ate lunch outside and Samuel got all muddy in the woods. It’s one of my favorite things when kids come home all muddy. My heart has always been for kids and outdoor play. And I’ve had a long dream of having my own creek so I love it when the kids go play in it. Lastly, one of our chickens laid a double-yolked egg! It was huge. Since I was the one who found it, I got to use it to make my weekly granola bars.

How does your garden grow?

The 5 little kids helped me plant lettuce, spinach, kale and peas. Can’t believe it’s already that time again.

First flowers blooming

It’s thrilling to watch the crocuses and daffodils come up and start to bloom. I also love seeing the blueberry bushes come alive with tiny buds and then blush colored rosettes at the end of each branch. The blooming tree is the plum tree. It bloomed a lot earlier than last year and I hope it doesn’t form plums and then we get a hard freeze and they die.
