This is the most comprehensive music curriculum/lesson plans for the 20th Century US history course you will find. I have looked everywhere and couldn’t find one so I made my own!
There are 33 lessons with biographies of singers, songwriters, composers, instrumentalists, groups, filmmakers and actors. Read the bio to/with your students. They take notes and answer questions in their packet. Play the recommended songs for your students so they get to know the musician. Includes book suggestions for further reading and activity ideas to make it a unit study to encompass geography, math, cooking, art, writing and more.
Teacher manual is 63 pages long and includes final exam answers and everything you need. It also has schedule ideas, unit study ideas, and more.
Student packet is 51 pages long with space to take notes and answer questions. Includes a final exam.
This course is laid out to study musicians in chronological order throughout the 20th century over the course of a year. But it is easily adaptable to fit your situation. Also includes popular songs of the time period, the history of early radio shows, popular dances of the 20’s, and so much more!
Best for grades 2-12, but easily adaptable for younger kids.
Great for homeschools and public schools alike.
